Public Opinion is Wrong: Marijuana is Bad for You

Dr. Leana S. Wen, the medical contributor to the Washington Post, lays out in detail the obvious reality: marijuana is profoundly destructive.

In her article – We Should not be Celebrating Marijuana Use  – she compares studies of popular attitudes about marijuana to some scientific studies. She cidties eight scientific studies from 1998 to 2019 that found significant, long-lasting problems among marijuana users, especially in children. The children of  mothers who used cannabis during pregnancy have difficulty paying attention, controlling impulses and understanding in language comprehension later in life.

Compared to this, one national survey showed more than 56 percent of Americans from 12 to 17 years old believe there is no risk to monthly cannabis use, and another found as many as 30 percent of pregnant women said they did not believe cannabis use in pregnancy to be harmful to the baby.
